Electric or manual choke

 · Depends what you want. Electrics are automatic, but they do kick in even if the car doesn't need it. The choke housing cools off faster than the engine itself. Manual's good since you (should) know exactly when the car needs more or less choke. But then leaving it on can waste a good amount of gas. You dont have to get a manual choke however its extremely easy to hook up an electric choke all you have to do is a simple connection of a wire (you have to supply this) to a wire leaving your ignition switch run this wire through any one of many existing holes in the firewall and perform another simple connection to the choke. You can tell if you have an electric choke on your old carb by looking at the side of the carb. There will be a round black cap with two terminals on it. There will be wires going to the terminals. There is a heating element in the cap that regulates the choke plate on top of the carb. As far as the choke goes I would keep it stock I'm not sure if that car came with electric or manual choke stock. Properly set up elec chokes are definitely better than manual chokes, imo.
